Dear Dot

The enclosed copies bring you up to date on our Irish transactions.

Re the car rental, I paid a deposit in March or April of $40.00, and recently the balance of $286.00, for a total of $326.00. As the Mannion letter indicates, there will be a "settling up" charge for gasoline (full tank) and insurance (haven't decided what, if any, coverage we will need). If you want to pay your pro-rate (1/3) share so far that will be fine. But if you want to wait until all the bills are paid that's OK, too.

A week from tomorrow (July 1, Thurs) I'm supposed to take off for Kalimantan (Borneo) via Tokyo, Hong Kong & Singapore. I expect to be there until July 14 & then fly back via Amsterdam. My long-time Dutch friend, Dunki-Jacobs, is going also, and has invited me to spend 2 or 3 days in the Netherlands w/him & his siblings on the return (say, July 15-18). He will stay longer, but I should be returning July 19 or sooner. All this is conditional, as I twisted my back last week and have been having trouble stretching, bending and carrying. Hope things get better or I may have to beg out.

If there are any q. while I'm gone, write or call Anna. I should be back early enough from Borneo to get prepped for Ireland - will have 9-12 days or so in between. Our plans now are to drive to Boston early on Sat Aug 1. Leo wants to visit w/ Jeanne LeLievre & perhaps Margaret & Ernie (Nahant) Richards so has offered to drive Anna's or my car & deliver us, relieving us of the problem of what to do with the car. Mary Shields, now at summer school in NYC, will be between terms and may accompany Leo.

I wish I had more time to really get ready for Ireland (genealogy, places to be seen, history, maps, etc), but the job has taken all my time - (that, and the house.) Will have to play it all by ear.

Any chance you can spend some of your August days at Ashley Dr after the return from Eire? The racing season will be in full swing. Think about it.

Hope Gen is OK. (& Ron/roy, Betty/Tony too) & misses us.

Best ever Frank.
